New Orleans is a food-lover's paradise, where much of life seems to center around what we've eaten in the past, what we're eating right now, and what we plan to eat tonight and tomorrow and next week. We're quite serious about all things culinary.

So it should come as no surprise that food-related events and such crop up here often. Check us often for our own list of topical tidbits and tasty happenings:

Like the rest of New Orleans, Olivier's is back and open for business. Olivier's Restaurant reopened in January 2006, after being closed for four months. We are currently serving our traditional dinner menu from 5-10 PM, six days a week (closed Wednesdays). Everyone at Olivier's is glad to be back, and we hope to see you soon!

The Crescent City Farmers Market is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to initiate and promote ecologically sound economic development in the Greater New Orleans region and to support the efforts of local farmers, fishermen, dairies, and more — not to mention it's where you'll find some of the best and freshest Louisiana foodstuffs around. The market is open again and operating on a limited schedule but there are cooking demonstrations by local farmers, food experts, and chefs at nearly every market. Check their latest schedule at the link below.

The French Quarter Festival was once viewed as the "local's festival" but has grown into yet another of our very popular festivals in New Orleans. This is a cultural showcase of free live music on 15 stages representing a music variety of funk, gospel, jazz, Zydeco, Cajun and so much more. The only thing that could compliment such a festival is the incredible cuisine offered as well.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival — a.k.a. JazzFest — brings Big Easy normalcy (well, at least our version of normalcy) to a halt and has us partying all the time from the third week of April to the beginning of May each year. But what many look forward to us as much as (if not more than) the live performances are the incredible dishes served up by food producers, professional vendors, and caterers alike — nearly 75 in an average year — many of whom have been doing this since the festival began in 1970, and what they sell is almost always music to the mouth.

The New Orleans Food & Wine Experience Just when we've recovered from JazzFest, it's time for the The New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, an annual five-day event that celebrates our city's rich cultural heritage through indigenous cuisine paired with fine wines from vineyards around the world — a wealth of culinary and viticultural talents coming together against a backdrop of New Orleans' art, architecture, music, and antiques.

Thinking about visiting New Orleans again? For the first time? We'd love to see you. As our city continues on its long road to recovery, we need your support. Please visit our convention and visitors bureau site (link below) to get more information on what's open – a lot, actually – where to stay, how to plan your trip, and more. We look forward to giving you a taste of New Orleans!
